Your First Steps

   Install and open

   No sign up screen, no email field, no waiting list. The app opens straight into creating or restoring a wallet.

   Set a passcode

   This is what your recovery phrase is encrypted under, so pick something you have not used elsewhere. Face ID or Touch ID rides on top of it.

   Write down twelve words

   On paper, in order. Aura makes you confirm a few of them back, because a phrase you have not actually recorded is not a backup.

   Make it yours

   Choose a network to receive your first transfer, or add a public address to follow its activity.

Your Wallet on Desktop

A browser profile is easier to copy off a machine than a phone's keystore is, and there is no Face ID to fall back on. So the extension does not reuse the phone's settings: it derives its vault key with 310,000 rounds of PBKDF2-HMAC SHA512 and seals it with AES-256-GCM, where the phone relies on hardware backed storage and a five attempt lockout instead. Same twelve words, different threat model, different numbers.

It announces itself over EIP-6963, so it appears in a dapp's wallet list alongside whatever else you have installed rather than fighting over the same global. Sites that only know the older window.ethereum convention still work.

Switching From MetaMask or Phantom?

Choose Restore instead of Create. Type your twelve or twenty four words and Aura derives every address from them using each chain's registered path, addresses for the configured derivation paths. Other wallets may use different paths or account indexes. Nothing is imported to a server, and your old wallet keeps working; a phrase can be open in two places at once.
